A customer wrote to our WhatsApp assistant recently to ask whether a USSD code he had been given to recharge his account was ours. He had already sent a dollar to test it. It was not ours, and the dollar was gone.
This page exists so that the next person can check before sending anything.
How Africom and EasyBiz take payment
- Self-service portal: selfservices.ai.co.zw for Africom accounts (internet, 08644 voice).
- Paynow: EasyBiz packages are paid through Paynow, which shows Africom as the merchant on the payment screen. The prompt arrives on your phone from Paynow when you confirm a package with the WhatsApp assistant, or from the signup page at easybiz.co.zw.
- Bank transfer or cash at an Africom shop in Harare, Bulawayo or Mutare, with a receipt.
Every legitimate payment gives you a receipt with a reference you can quote to support.
How we never take payment
- We never ask you to send money to a personal EcoCash or OneMoney number.
- We never send a USSD string like
*151*2*2*XXXXX*amount#and ask you to dial it. - We never ask for your EcoCash PIN, your bank login or a one-time code.
- The WhatsApp assistant never asks for money in the chat; it hands you to Paynow or tells you where to pay.
If a message does any of these things, it is not from us, whatever name and logo it carries.
If you have already paid
Report the transaction to EcoCash on 114 or OneMoney immediately; they can sometimes reverse a recent transfer. Then tell us on the support line, +263 8644 066032, with the number you paid, so we can warn other customers.
Check before you pay
Message the official number, +263 71 858 2375, or call +263 8644 000096, and ask. Thirty seconds of checking is cheaper than a dollar sent to test a scammer.
